"Mercedes Streeter" (smart)

It’s crazy how Illinois allows Currency Exchanges to handle car licensing and titles. They took a quick look at my title, told me to cough up $280, then boom, plates, title (in a few weeks), and registration for a car that isn’t even here.
Meanwhile, Laura’s previous owner told me that her left front tyre is kinda bad and he’d recommend changing it before the drive home. I fetched this full size steel spare out of Tucker, weighed it, and determined that despite the short distance, shipping costs are kinda stupid. So I’m bringing it as checked baggage.
Bonus: Reallllllly, Steve?

In my extensive experience of shipping things, UPS ground to a business address, or USPS are the cheapest options.
But a tire as checked baggage? The only thing better is if you do an engine next. Like that 1 liter Fiesta engine they did that with once, haha.

I love it! We’ll need a picture of it coming around on the baggage carousel.

Make sure the tire is mostly deflated as they may not like it at 30 psi.

Probably a good idea too due to the pressure change. 30psi at sea level becomes 40psi at 30000ft.

They may have some policy regarding pressure vessels but I doubt they have inflated tires listed. When you fly a bicycle it is a good idea to deflate the tires. Cargo is pressurized but you know airlines...

Huh, I didn’t think cargo was pressurized.

Not bad, not bad at all.
There is the story, however, of a vintage car collector and restorer who found in Africa (Uganda, maybe?) an Amherst-Villiers supercharger for a Blower Bentley and took it back with him to the UK as “hand luggage”.
That would certainly difficult to top.

Yes, it’s easier to pressurise the entire fuselage.

You know, now that you mention it, I remember going with a friend to buy a car from a private party in Illinois and we did the title at some currency exchange type place or something similar. I thought that was funny at the time.
Geez, that was probably almost 10 years ago. Being in my mid 30s I often find that I have these “whoa that was a long time ago” moments, although I certainly don’t feel old and people in their 50s and 60s keep telling me how young I am.

Hmmm... those superchargers were huge. I wouldn’t be surprised if that one exceeded the dimensions of the 3-cyl Fiesta block. Also I understand it flew with him
in the cabin
- not in the hold?
Did the trolley with the block also go in the overhead compartment?
Not bad either...

BTW I would judge steve by what he is drinking. If he is drinking something dorky no-go this interaction.

Yeah, that Fiesta bag is a carry-on.
